“At the end of 2018, Indie had a lot of data and it told a story. A story of failure. In that year, we sold just 300 policies (mostly to family and friends), our team was falling apart and life at the company was difficult and full of chaos.
A year later our team has tripled in size, and our people are happy and thriving. We’ve grown our revenue by nearly 2000% and we’re starting to make a meaningful impact inside of Sanlam.
We still have lots of challenges to overcome but we are alive and kicking. We are no longer that innovation side project, we are demonstrating how to disrupt a 100-year-old business and we are being listened to.
The journey to now has been tough, fun and humbling and we’ve learnt some great lessons on the way. This is the story of how we’ve used data, design and some borrowed wisdom to navigate our way out of failure towards the beginnings of success.”
