Fast-growing insurance administration platform provider Genasys Technologies has opened its new Product and Innovation Campus in Stellenbosch, Western Cape.
The 1,377m² office, nestled in the picturesque heart of the Cape Winelands, becomes the headquarters of the Genasys Software Solutions division, providing a collaborative and open working environment for the company to continually evolve its product and drive innovative new products and features. The Genasys team was joined by founder and chair Steve Symes and former director Leoni Symes to celebrate the Stellenbosch opening on Friday 17 March in true South African style with a traditional spit braai.
Having started life in Steve’s Cape Town garage over 25 years ago, Genasys’ expansion into the four-storey space at Techno Park Stellenbosch signals its commitment to the province’s booming innovation ecosystem.
Craig Olivier, Group CTO and co-founder will be based at the new campus to lead the Software Solutions division and to pilot the business’s ongoing product development and technology innovation. He explains: “As we take on more clients, across more territories, in a highly competitive market, there’s never been a more crucial time for us to invest in our product development and focus on staying ahead of the market.
Insurance technology with a difference.
The end-to-end insurance platform that puts your customers first.
“This new campus puts us closer to the Cape Town city centre than our previous space in Somerset West, and this better reflects our trajectory as a global insurtech company. It affords us the space to grow our talented team dramatically and we’ll be looking to do so almost immediately.”
Genasys retains its existing office in Johannesburg, from which Eugene Wessels, formerly head of global operations, will lead Genasys’ delivery and operations as the MD of Genasys’s newly-created Professional Services division. Wessels will report directly to Olivier.
André Symes, Group CEO remains based in the UK, where Genasys opened its first international office in 2018, to lead the company’s commercial growth strategy. He says: “Through the creation of these new businesses we are in an exceptional position to propel our company forward with real focus on our core strengths – our excellent cloud-based insurance software and our brilliant customer servicing.
“We are serious about investing in our product development, and most importantly, in our people, who have always been what sets Genasys apart. With our Product and Innovation Campus, we’re creating a new workspace that will support our people to drive our technology expansion. As we continue to grow our client list, from ahead-of-the-curve start-ups to industry heritage brands, our ‘innovation hub’ will help to attract insurtech talent and outstanding university graduates.”
